"I am going to make everything around me beautiful—that will be my life." — Elsie de Wolfe

What is the correlation between fashion and interiors? This is a question we found ourselves asking when tasked to conceptualize a space for a fashion designer in Singapore. Just like fashion, interiors are also a medium to express one’s preference or personality, and therefore it is essential when designing for a fashion designer to express creativity and timelessness—the curved features on the mirror wall reference modernist styles from the 60s whilst the curves found in the eclectic array of furniture are contemporary looks created by independent designers that have their finger on the pulse of the current interior trends.

"Be both soft and wild. Just like the moon. Or the storm. Or the sea." — Victoria Erickson

The rounded mirror adds a touch of luxury to this bathroom by association to the moon. Coupled with the contrasting pairing of white marble walls to symbolize day on one side and black marble walls to symbolize the night on the opposing side. The end result is a conceptual bathroom sure to relax and delight your senses both at the same time.

Children’s Loft Bedroom. Concept by Archluxe

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” ― George Bernard Shaw

Children’s rooms should always ignite their curiosity and imagination. We create an airy space for children to play and dream because before something is acknowledged as a fact was once imagined.

“Don’t design your lifestyle for comfort, design it for passion. Don’t design it for functionality, design it for sensuality.” — Lebo Grand. The bedroom should especially be a place where your most personal collection of items should adorn. This area may oftentimes be overlooked whenever one designs the bedroom but we can assure you that this is also going to be one of the most important views of the house as this is the area one looks at the moment he/she wakes up and before going to bed.

"There are two things that make a room timeless: a sense of history and a piece of the future." — Charlotte Moss Here history and future are represented by the use of timeless textures such as marble and furnished with modernist office chair and coffee table. The fluted wall panels with gold fittings and cupboard with gilded gold borders add to the luxurious theme of the modern office design.

"The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live. It is about the realities of what makes for an attractive, civilized, meaningful environment, not about fashion or what's in or what's out. This is not an easy job." — Albert Hadley

Should function follow form or form follow function? To the German Art School, Bauhaus, with its famed approach to design, form follows function, and with mass production growing, the school attempts to unify this with individual artistic vision by combining aesthetics with everyday function. One does not design out of whim, one designs based on needs. The modern luxury aesthetic is first and foremost a lifestyle but given the constraints when it comes to space in Singapore while experiencing an increase in the standard of living, there is a need to combine these two concepts together to create something that when the words are placed together almost seem like a paradoxical vision, Practical Luxury.

"Be faithful to your own taste, because nothing you really like is ever out of style." — Billy Baldwin

As the world becomes increasingly globalized, our sense of identity should be stronger than ever. What are some of the things that define us? Heritage can definitely be one of those things that identify and speak to us.

“Within you, there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at any time and be yourself.” — Hermann Hesse

Creamy white and beige tones add a hint of air and lightness to a space whilst maintaining its timelessness in interior design trends. This freshness when done in the bedroom creates a calm and peaceful oasis for the homeowner to rest and recharge after a particularly stressful day at work.
